Orla Kiely “Patent Trim Leather Big Tote”
Ok, attention everyone! As you may have noticed, this bag has patent leather parts on it, and even though I’ve had more than enough patent for this season, I like it! Wanna know why? I’ll tell you why - because these have a heavenly summery feel to them and the patent leather is used sparingly and does the job it was supposed to do just right! Go Orla, show them how patent is supposed to be used on summer bags! I really do not want to carry a patent leather bag during spring and definitely not on those hot summer days that are coming in a couple of months. There has been more than enough of patent in the AW07 collections and I don’t want my SS purchases to be clones of what the past AW collections brought us… No, no and no, I’m tired of the cold weather and short days, I’m craving for sunshine, I don’t need a new bag to remind me of winter… duh… I want to see something different, and I found it. I just figured out that I am not sick of patent leather per se, but rather the way it was used in the myriad of bags lately. Please tell me if there is any way you could associate this bag with winter? I didn’t think so!
Ok, lets get back to the bag, I think I have made my point about patent leather more than clear. 
This Orla Kiely piece is pure candy. Not something elegant or serious, but a definite hit for a summer bag! I cannot decide which version I like better - the white leather one with blue patent leather trim or the fierce red leather one with a white patent leather trim. This is my usual problem with Orla Kiely’s bags, I can’t seem to be able to make up my mind about which version I like better. It’s because all the versions have an unique feel to them, if you know what I mean. This “problem” I have is not so emphasized when it comes to other designers, eventhough I do find myself in a dillema every so often, but it seems to occur with every Orla Kiely bag I fall for.
Anyways, the bag is simply fab, having more than enough interior pockets for easy organizing. Featuring signature stem print lining, an adjustable handle (100 cm max length) and a magnetic closure… Everything is just right. I also love the front pocket detail, and how it looks different in these two versions.
