Valentino “Nuage”

Yesterday we published an article on Valentino “Side Bow Zip Top Satchel“, and is was more than obvious that it didn’t make it to our favorites. We also mentioned Nuage as an example where the bow detail fit in just right. In this case, the featured bow adds life to the bag, without it this bag would look really dull imho. I am not head over heels with Nuage, nor it would be my top priority in bag shopping, but still, it is a very nice bag.

I would say Nuage is a daytime bag, and I would probably use it for occasions such as shopping or for a casual cup of coffe with my friends if I owned it. The material used to make this bag is patent cotton, the trendy detail, but I think I would like this bag a bit more if it was just plain cotton. Nuage is featured with golden hardware, a logo plate on front, two handles with a 9″ drop, which I fit great when you are carrying it on your shoulder, and magnetic closure. The interior is featuring red poliester satin lining and a zip pocket and a zip compartment.

The bag is available in black and white patent and I couldn’ say I liked one version better then the other, I like them just the same, which is a bit odd, because there is always one version you like even a tiny bit better. Both black and white go along with all possible clohting combinations, so just pick the one you feel like better

Valentino “Side Bow Zip Top Satchel”

So, I’m browsing the Bergdorf Goodman NY Holiday Handbags and this is what I encounter. I really do not know where to start. I actually like Valentino, I really do, which only made it worse when I saw this bag. This is something I would never, ever expect from that designer house.

First of all, let’s cover the bow detail. The bow detail is perfectly fine usually, it suits Valentino’s black Nuage perfectly! Adds that little bit of i’m-special effect to it. But this is definitely NOT a bag you would even consider adding any bow details. It looks deformed at the least and it looks way too static, practicaly dead. It gave me chills, honestly.

The shape of this bag is too simple to even remember it, I had to go back to the tab it was open in a few times acctually. The only thing I will remember about this bag is the scary bow on the front. Not even the colors are appealing. You can choose from two colors; brown and red. Brown is the color I usually like, but they picked a shade of brown that makes this bag look like a bag you would only imagine your grandmother carrying. And the red, or at least they call it red because it looks more of a strong pink or cheap red is definitely not suitable for nor complementing this shape.

I really do not know what point they wanted to get across. Obviously it is supposed to be a day bag, but I do not know who would like to carry this bag in broad daylight. I really do not feel nice writing like this about Valentino’s bag, but you can’t ignore the fact that this bag was better off not making it to the production.
