We apologize for the recent lack of updates. We have been very busy working on some exciting new things and had very little time to do what we do best and love the most, which is writing about bags. Fortunately, most of the work is now over and we are ready to rock again. The Saks Fifth Avenue online store presented today it’s “Fashion in action” web video catalog which takes online clothing and accessory shopping to a completely new level. Introduced featuring the top 17 of the season’s top contemporary looks as selected by Saks, this innovative feature allows shoppers to see the styles “flutter, drape, wrap and whirl on models without ever trying them on”. Along with the opportunity to see how the items actually look when worn or carried, the background audio commentary offers additional styling suggestions and the items presented in each “look” can be purchased by simply clicking the image.

I must say I really like this innovation as I have been annoyed what seems to be a million times by not being able to see how a bag or a piece of clothing would actually look in real life. Some stores seem to completely disregard the fact that people want to see how a bag looks when carried by a live person since sizes can be decieving. Regardless of how much attention and effort is put into making the photos and descriptions of items offered through a web store as accurate and informative as they can be, seeing a video with a live model is the closest that online shopping can currently get to real life shopping, and while this might not have as much impact on shopping for bags as it does on shopping for clothing, being able to see how a bag looks when carried is a welcome change and I really wish more online retailers will follow suit.

Anya Hindmarch “Be A Bag”

The Be a Bag is available for purchase again! It is a really easy way to make an unique bag which noone else will have. The whole process is very exhausting and time consuming. First you are faced with picking the shape of the bag you like the most and pick the color of the bag - stress levels are very high in this step, so make sure you take breaks regularly. Then you have to, imagine this, pick a picture you would like to have on your bag. And then, you have to send it to Anya Hindmarch… I really do not know how anyone could find their way around this complicated set of tasks Just kidding, it’s as simple as it gets ;D

There is a tool available on the official site which allows you to change the size of your image or crop it and use only a part of it on the bag. You can also choose whether you would like to have a picture on both the front and the back of the bag or only the front. I think having a pic on both sides of the bag would be just a bit too much.. The front is just fine.

You can choose from various shapes and sizes to match your desires. Most of these bags are made of silk satin, only the Shopper and Weekender totes are made of canvas. All bags are featured with a tab closure and an internal zip pocket.

Bottega Veneta SS08 Collection Online

Finally, we are able to see what Bottega Veneta has in store for us for the impatiently awaited spring season. There are some of the SS08 pieces available for online shoping as well! I am very glad to see the playful motifs in their new collection, such as the butterfly motif on one of the SS08 totes. I love the new bucket shape which looks both elegant and casual at the same time. However, I don’t like all the pieces presented in the new collection, even though seeing the whole collection made me pretty happy. Maybe it was due to the fact that I know I have a ton of choices available as well as the desperate need for some color after these cloudy days and any step in that direction is highly appreciated as far as I am concerned.

What I particularly liked were the Intrecciato nappa mini Veneta, the Cement waxed Python bag (I just love the turquoise/brown combination), the Cervo cosmetic case, which I probably couldn’t resist carrying around as a small purse (divine) and the Olio Soft Crocodile Tote (I’m not demanding at all hah!).

New SS08 Arrivals @ Mulberry.com

It has been quite some time since we last posted about a Mulberry bag, and this is a perfect oportunity to give this fashion house more attention on our site. As you have probably figured out from the name of the post, there are some new additions to the online store at Mulberry.com. The ad we recieved is in a strictly monochrome spirit, but there is some more colorful stuff on the site as well, like the coral version of Agyness or the soft pink version of the Soho bag.

Louis Vuitton “Valentine’s Day Vernis”

Both Zoe and I love Louis Vuitton and we are both lately feasting our eyes on the LV Vernis Line so it’s nothing strange to see another post about it after Zoe did that Violette Vernis. I didn’t plan to do this one but since eLuxury decided to help all us ladies choose the perfect thing for the men in our lives to prove their love;) , I just had to. Louis Vuitton Rayures Line SS ‘08 / Monogram Tisse Rayure Clutch

We have something on the spring/summer ‘08 Louis Vuitton new releases, and it’s about the bags which are set to be the first to hit the LV stores. I’m talking about the limited edition Rayures Line. Rumor has it that they are limited edition so you better keep them in mind since they will be among the most wanted bags in the upcoming season, and with a high demand and a limited number of bags available, if you want one you better get it as soon as you can.

The Line features tote bags in two sizes and a clutch bag in a new, water repelent Monogram Canvas. The size of GM tote is 14.9″ x 11.8″ x 7.5″, with white-blue stripes and the price is $2,470.00. The size of the PM one is 11.6″ x 9.4″ x 5.9″, it also has white-blue stripes and is priced at $2,090.00. Both totes are featured with an interior zip and with two lateral pockets.

I can’t wait to see more of these bags because they really are beautiful, fresh and worth craving for - and believe me, they will be craved for. Have no doubt, I will pay close attention to them and try to be the first to have exclusive info about them so stay tuned.
