Kooba “Josie Clutch”

I have been eyeing this cutie for the past couple of days. It didn’t stirke me as something extra special to be honest, and since I usually prioritize the bags I am going to post about based on how much I genuinely like them, this one hasn’t been on the top of my list. Having realized just a moment ago that Bluefly has it in stock at a really good price made me push it up the list and write about it today because of the more than generous discount Bluefly usualy offers compared to usual retail prices (40% off in this case). You do the math..

So, Josie is a refreshing combination of pleated linen and shiny gold leather which translates into a perfect summer clutch. The flap, wrist strap, belt and the trim are made of leather and the rest of the bag is crafted out of linen. If you are not a linen fan, there is a version in pink leather, which I would personally go for (it looks much classier in my humble opinion).

Josie has two sepparate compartments, both featured with a zip top closure which is something I didn’t actually notice untill now. This really had a positive effect on how much I like it. It is very practical if you think about it.. At first you might think it is pointless to make a small bag like this with dual compartments, but it is really highly practical. I own a bag with two compartments, and all my important things, such as my wallet, cell and keys, are in one compartment, and all other things are in the other one which really saves me from a lot of headaches I would otherwise have.

Along with the zip top closures on both compartments, the clutch is featured with a double magnet flap closure for extra security. Both compartments are featured with patch pockets and twill lining. The glod toned studs on the belt are also unique, they actually look like small gems, and a small change like this can do so much to improve the overall impression a bag leaves on me.

I am sincerely sorry for not covering this one earlied. You really do not want to miss on this one - a practical, very cute clutch for less than two hundred bucks - perfect if you ask me.

Kooba “Taryn Clutch”

The Taryn clutch reminded me of another new release from Kooba, the Bennie clutch, which I didn’t quite like. I mean, Bennie has a perfectly fine shape, but I couldn’t get over the colorful stripes, they just didn’t fit. I know it could look good, but it is just a bit over the top for me. On the other hand though, the Taryn clutch is just lovely. This is not a clutch you will be carrying on a Sunday morning, looking for a free spot at your fav caffe, nor will you be carrying it on any other day… during the day. But for a Friday night out - perfect! Glittery, yet not “in-your-face-screaming-for-attention”, the Taryn will lift both your outfit and your mood.

The sole idea of having a clutch covered in small mirror squares would not have played off well if it weren’t for the flap. It would look nice, but nothing special, definitely not special enough to make it to my “will-write-’bout-that” list. I have seen clutches covered in squares like these, and if they weren’t featured with another eye catching detail, the squares would leave quite an impression but the whole thing would end up looking unfinished. Luckily, the Taryn didn’t fall victim to this syndrome.

Inside Taryn you will find a zipped pocket, something I always look for in a clutch, a giant plus in my calculations. Other features include a magnetic closure and a logo plate on the back side of the clutch. I like it.

Kooba “Metallic Lexie Bag”

So here’s the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this bag. You’re about to go out, some place like a club or anywhere where you’ll be surrounded with a crowd of people. You’re wearing trousers, a top and mid-heel pumps since you’ll be standing most of the time. The thing that is missing is a handbag which will carry just few things needed on an occasion like this, and a handbag which will lift your outfit up a notch. You don’t want to carry one of your best bags, since you know what kind of effect that would have on your mood. You don’t want to worry too much if it will get ruined or something, you just want to carelessly have fun. Still, you don’t want to be seen with a fug on your shoulder.

This is the kind of a handbag which fits almost every occasion a young woman can find herself in. It isn’t a burden, it’s practical and handy and it always gives a special touch whether we’re talking about your outfit or your, mood. Don’t get me wrong, this kind of a bag goes even if you’re going to the movies or just for a drink, just as much as it will work when you’re strolling around town. You have to have at least one or two bags which fit this criteria, depending on your habits and how much money you have available for spending on accesories.

One of the bags which fits everything I’ve said could easily be this Kooba Lexi. The thing that attracted me to it most is it’s playful and fresh look which makes me instatly want to buy it and go out with it. I’d do it right away if I wasn’t sick, but since that’s the case, I’ll rather drool over it in my mind while posting about it than literally doing so

Where was I? Oh yes… This one is also available in black patent leather, but my choice is this one, since the black doesn’t fit the idea behind this bag just right. Silver is the best way to go with this one because it makes it much more wearable and charming.

The shoulder strap has a 23″ drop which makes it perfect if worn cross body, but you can still detach it and carry it as a clutch. I don’t think you’ll have any need for that since the primary way of carrying it is cross body and that’s when this bag is at it’s best. It is pleated with it’s asymmetric pintucked pleats giving it that playful look I was telling you about and the interior is fine textile lined featured with small patch pocket.

Kooba “Penelope Clutch”

The first, and only for that matter, thing that passed through my mind when I saw this bag was - clubbing! That is the sole purpose of this bag. It is made of THE accessory material of the season - patent leather, complemented by another hip detail - detachable polished silver metal chain. You would, in this situation, when designers accent more than one seasonal trend, usually get the impresion of the whole thing being over-done and thus practiaclly miss the bag in the whole process, but I didn’t get that kind of feeling when I looked this bag, eventhough it features two leading trends.

It’s small, thin, and you could probably wear it on your shoulder thus keeping your money, apartment keys, anything important on you and still be able to dance. This is definately not the kind of bag you could wear to any high profiled event because it would look cheap in that kind of enviroment. As I said earlier in the post, this bag’s sole purpose is, imho, clubbing! The bag comes in dark brown croc, the flap top with turn-lock closure is tonal stiched and very eye-catching. The sides of the bag are gusseted. The thing I personally like is the absence of a logo, I do not even see a suitable position to place it on the front. The small logo engraved nameplate is placed on the back of the bag. The interior of the bag features fine canvas lining and patent leather trimmed zip pocket.
