Fendi “Forever Pochette Clutch”

After the 10th anniversary of the Baguette, and after we had been bombed with a ton of different revamps and redesigns of the Baguette and the To You clutch, I am more than glad to see something like this. Talk about going from one extreme to another. That’s something we’re used to when we’re talking about Fendi though. It’s what made the label famous and if that’s the outset then it’s all good. But nevertheless, it’s ok to put your foot down from time to time and create something that will be awesome but won’t make everyone talk about it.

Here we have a perfect evening clutch, made to carry you through various special occassions be it weddings or coctail parties. I wouldn’t suggest carrying it on a “regular” night out, not only because it’s made of satin, but also because it has that sophisticated and classy touch to it. Two logo detailed snaps are the only thing distinguishing the bag and are also a nice detail since they are rather small and implemented in an unintrusive and elegant fashion. The interior features one divider and an open back pocket. Simple, elegant and not too expensive. I’ll bite!

Fendi “Leather Chain Hobo”

Hmmm… It’s a Fendi… It’s a small hobo shaped shoulder bag… It’s made of soft nappa leather and detailed with a polished gold toned chain which also serves as shoulder strap… All in all, I must say I like it! This bag was designed to last and last and trust me, it’s not a type of bag you’ll get bored with easily. You’ve got the simple shape and the completely unintrusive design, which I must say is refreshing to say the least. Fendi usually makes it pretty hard to mistake any of their bags for anything but a Fendi by slapping their logo and their name all over the bag. Fendi “Spy Bag” New Looks

I have never written a single post about a Fendi bag since we started blogging here at Bagddicted. There are a few reasons for this, main one being that I really didn’t like any of their bags. I did like the Spy bag when I first saw it, but I never managed to find it in a simple, smooth leather version (at least not online), and while I was waiting for such a version to appear somewhere, I got bored with it and no longer have any desire to own one. I still think it is a great bag, but I simply don’t have that irresistable urge to get one, eventhough I have seen the soft grained leather version available at eLuxury. You must be asking yourself why am I posting about it if I got bored by it? The answer is these crazy creations, Fendi’s response to the recent ethnic craze!

At first, I thought they were funny looking. Yes, funny, not in a bad way, but funny, as opposed to other versions that always had something that just didn’t fit into the picture in my book. I would never consider buying any of these (both because of the steep prices and because they simply don’t fit my style), but they are so extraordinary that I think they could work just fine if you know what to match them with. I am referring to the Island and the Beaded version, not the paillettes one, which I do not find alluring at all. I decided to inculde it in this post soley because it has a distinct ethnic touch to it.

The way I see it, Fendi has a problem with exaggerating every unneccessary detail, and this is a prefect example to back up my opinion. So far I have never liked any of their overdetailed bags, but this is something that caught my attention, and for a Fendi bag to do that - not something that happens often The price tags on these bags are quite high, and that could mean not too many sales, since the Spies have been out there for quite a while now, but I am inclined to think that the combination of the unique looks and the high price tags will set the must have triggers off in this specific situation and end up making these bags very sought after. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Fendi “Paint Your Own Baguette Tote”

This is not funny. And it’s not “whoaaaa, how cool” either! I don’t want to paint my own bag. I also have no desire or need to write my to-do lists, phone numbers or poetry on it, I’ve got my agenda for that. If I wanted to paint, I’d get a piece of canvas, an easel, a beret and some paint and brushes and let all that creative energy flow. That is IF I wanted to. It’s just that I don’t want to! I am more than content with expressing my style and creativity through carefully selected outfits and accessories.

Please tell me I am not the only one who is not a tad bit exctied about this bag. I mean, why? Design a gorgeous bag, manufacture it, put it on the shelves - end of story. We’ll come, take a look, fall in love with it and there you go - everyone is happy. There’s no need for stuff like this. I’ll go out and buy it and do what? Doodle on it? Please… It would be a good present for a kid though!

And no, I’m not going to write anything else about it…

Fendi “Selleria Hobo”

It’s back to Fendi with this bag, a part of the Selleria Line. Selleria was introduced back in 1994, and has since become one of the synonyms for high end, luxury leather products. The line features various types of accessories, handbags and shoes being the most numerous and definitely most interesting. I own a few pairs of shoes from that line myself which I bought in 2006/2007 and I somehow just can’t seem to part from them. As for the handbags, it’s like I always managed to skip them, not that I didn’t like them, but you know, there was always something better in my way. But back to the topic… The same skills and craftsmanship which was implemented in manufacture of ancient Roman saddles is used to manufacture these bags. The leather is treated in a special way to achieve the grained texture and a big part of the manufacturing process is dedicated to hand stitching the items.

When it comes to this bag, trust me, it’s neither worth that kind of money nor you’d feel special at all carrying it. The first thing that hit me was the topstitching on the front of the bag which is totally unnecessary. I know it’s the signature topstitching, but it is really too much. It’s not that the bag is over-detailed, but it simply doesn’t fit into the picture. Among all those overdone and fug details we can see on many bags this is nothing in a comparison, but I still think the leather trimmed pull tab on a zip top closure with a Fendi plaque, which has a serial number engraved on it btw, is enough to make the bag distinguishable. As for the rest, the bag is pretty much ok. I mean, there’s nothing special to it, but the sumptuous leather and the meticulous craftsmanship which is behind it is worth a lot. Shoulder strap of a 8″ drop plus the manner in which the top of the bag is shaped makes this bag, if nothing else, fit nicely on the shoulder. Interior is, like the exterior, made of grained leather and featured with two interior patch pockets.

Fendi “Medium Matrioska Tote”

It’s Fendi time, ladies. Among all of those average Fendi bags, every now and then a nice one pops up and surprises me. I caught this one recently, and I’ve been saving a place for it here on Bagddicted. To save you from my further blabbing and to save myself from keeping it all in me… I like it. It’s a Fendi, it has Fendi logo plastered all over it and I still like it.

The thing is I’m sick and tired of logos being used in the same manner on every bag out there. I’m currently on the lookout for bags which don’t scream “Hey I’m a (insert random favorite brand here)” on first sight. Even though there’s no doubt about which fashion house is behind this bag, the logo isn’t too prominent and I really like that.

The Matrioska logo is made by weving metallic parts into the leather, which makes it really charming and gives it a subtle elegant feel. As for the color, the gold fits the idea of a bag that won’t scream where it came from but will still be perfectly recognizable. I’m not sure any other color would have the same impact on the bag as this one has.

Being a tote, and a rather big one for that matter, with the logo all over it and in this divine color, I say this is a great summer bag. If you have any doubts, just imagine what would it do to your green top and white shorts outfit and you’ll get the idea.

Spacious, with an open top and shoulder handles of a 10.5″ drop, this is very practical bag. If you’re worried about how safe your necessities will be, the bag is equipped with one zipped and two patch pockets featuring canvas lined interior so you can keep more valuable things in there.

Deal of the Week - Fendi “B. Fendi Pleated Gold Shoulder Bag”

So it’s like this… I had a hard time deciding what to recomend as our deal of the week. I was relying on eLuxury’s sale items and it’s not like there’s nothing which fits the awesome deal-criteria, it’s just that there’s not too much of a choice given. I was looking for something that is on sale, but still not linked exclusively to autumn/winter season so that it can maybe fit the early and even later spring time. Or if nothing else, something that’s on sale from this autumn/winter but has potential to fit next A/W 2008 season. And at the end, I decided to go for this one as a bag that you can use in the upcoming season, because it caught my eye first time I saw it as it is rather wearable and good to have around for accesorizing yourself on an easy night out when you need something in service of a lifter-accessory.

To quote ELuxury, “coated leather with mirror-like appearance” in gold is something that can’t pass unnoticed, with a belt which has a signature Fendi buckle, not only is this bag is noticable but it’s also recognizable. The belt is adjustable from 10.75″ to 13.5″. Top of the bag is slightly pleated and closed with a zip closure. Interior is fine textile lined and featured with patch pocket.

Fendi “Chef Hobo”

I am more than happy to say I have found a new Fendi bag which immediately made it into my favorites. The latest post about B-bag is affirmative, but B-bag is old news, so it is safe to say that it won’t carry Fendi much further, a new style is more than necessary. Whether you are or aren’t a Fendi fan, I think you will agree with me on this one. No matter how recognized and respected a fashion house is, they must never let themselves get left behind, especially if we’re talking about a fashion house as renowned as Fendi is.

There are a few new bags available at Saks, but this one is clearly my favourite. Needless to say, it is mainly because of the shape… But it’s not just the shape with this one. To quote Saks: “… canvas surface of coated blocks…”. I am more than surprised to see how nice it looks on this bag - this is what it looks like when an idea is carried out the right way. Also, the color definitely has something to do with how nice it looks, because the various shades of brown are great at emphasizing any detail, especially when it comes to making the shape of the bag stand out more. When it comes to this one, it wouldn’t be anything special if it weren’t for “coated blocks”. As I said, the shape is great, but that alone doesn’t make a bag special.

Interior is canvas lined with a zip pocket, 9″ drop shoulder strap with a removable chain link and a zip top closure.

Fendi “B. Fendi Lame Pleated Medium Bag”

For those of you who are paying close attention to sale items and are at the moment taking advantages of multiple ongoing sales, keep tuned to what eLuxury thinks you might find interesting because you never know what might come up. I know what I’m talking about becasue the same thing happened to me with this one.

At first I didn’t like the B-bag concept, then I started to kind of like it and now I like it more than I ever thought was possible. It is a huge hit and a classic finaly coming form house of Fendi. I liked originally particularly liked the smaller versions of B-bag, but somehow I got caught up with the shoulder versions, although I never really bought one. It’s not like I didn’t want to buy it, I was more like dissuading myself from it. I already said I’m not much of an extravagant bagddict and I’m always going for more low key accessories and for me, B-bag fits in the category of extravagant bags, if you know what I mean. Remember just how much stir it caused when it first came out, which is never the case if the bag isn’t special and extraodrinary in a way.

Look what happened now… After all that talking of low key bags and all I’m about to say I like pleated shoulder B-bag :-)… I’m trying to find any argument reasonable enough to not buy this one but there are more unresonable ones which are mainkg me want it pretty bad. For example, if I’m going for something I normally wouldn’t, then I’ll do it with style and by that I mean with this one on my shoulder. Good thing it’s medium size as I don’t think I’d like it this much if it was bigger…

It’s made of pleated leather, in bronze color which enhances just how extraordirany this bag is and with it’s shoulder straps of a 7″ drop you can be sure it fits the criteria of a shoulder bag. Oversized buckles on the front are hiding a flap closure with a magnetic clasp which is securing beautifuly fine blue lined interior in great contrast to it’s exterior.

It has a great sale price so try not to miss it…

Fendi “Leather Frame Bag”

I can say I really like this one. It is the kind of bag I wasn’t expecting to see coming from Fendi. More like Marc Jacobs or Miu Miu, but we are definitely not used to seeing something like this with a Fendi name tag. I am happy to see that Fendi can still come up with great bags and I can’t wait for the moment they’ll stop making those useless and fug bags, like the one that made me write that disturbing post the other day.

I see that the designers over at Fendi are still holding on to the frame-thing and I think it fits this bag perfectly. They came to the idea of combining a unusual opening with a bit of frame-detail on the top and loosening the bag on it’s sides, which alltogether looks very catchy. The shape and the size of the bag allows that kind of opening and it’s great to see the inovating tendency at Fendi, finding the right way to express itself.

High quality leather was used in making this bag and it is nicely detailed with gunmetal hardware. Most importantly, it is logo-free which is the thing I like the most after recently seeing those over-done logos on their bags. Made as a top handle bag and with it’s multiple pockets, this is a great day-time bag, perhaps not perfect for a shopping-spree, but perfect for strolling around town with a cup of Starbucks in ones hand and this beauty in another.
