Dolce & Gabbana “Distressed Top Handle”

I wont let this one slip my mind just because it is not a summer bag. I feel like sharing every single beautiful bag I stumble upon, regardless of the season or the fact that we’re all in a mood for light shoulder bags, and that’s exactly what I’ll do. I must say that this is the pure opposite to the type of bags I am on the lookout for at the moment - it’s a typical autumn/winter bag, being made of distressed glazed gray leather and coming in a dark color. Or is just me? I don’t know… I know that I wouldn’t carry it around much during the summer. It’s not that people would point fingers at you if you decide to take it out on a summer evening, but there’s nothing summery to it if you ask me. Other than that, this is a very nice bag. The color is simply beautiful and it complements the bag shape perfectly while leaving enough room for you to play with your outfit, choosing various colors and patterns if you feel like it which is great because despite being a true baggdict, I think that having the bag in the first plan isn’t always the best thing to do.

As for the distressed leather - I just love the pleating along front and back - perfect! Note that the bag also has a shoulder strap, which I would strongly recommend you to leave as a hanging detail. Do not, and I repeat, do not ever carry a bag of this shape on your shoulder. This is a textbook example of a top handle and it should be carried like one.

The interior features a leopard pattern lining and a zip and a cell phone pocket.

Dolce & Gabbana “Miss Curly Clutch”

How many times do I have to say that kiss lock closures don’t work on shoulder bags? It just doesn’t click, at all, never has and never will. Kiss lock closures have that “special occassion” touch to them, looking all vintage and/or glamorous, and when you try to slap a detail like that on a shoulder bag, it has very slim chances of looking anything but fug.

It’s ok to have an evening shoulder bag (even though clutches work much better imho), but I just can’t stand seeing a kiss lock closed bag being carried on a shoulder. Maybe you’ll find my observation totally out of line, but I can’t get over it. Thank God this one has a detachable shoulder strap so not all hope is lost, but I am still under the original impression. Everything else about this bag is ok, especially the fact it is white. The leather looks very nice, soft and practical. I like how the slightly gathered leather on the top complemets the above mentioned kiss lock closure - I appreciate that, thank you - but not on a shoulder bag…

Anyway, the interior is featured with one card pocket, and if you were wondering, the shoulder strap is of a 10″ drop. Pricey, kiss lock, shoulder bag… I think I’ll pass on this one.

Dolce & Gabbana “Allyson Medium Shoulder Bag”

I pay much more attention to the bags I like, while trying to avoid writing about bags I dislike. It’s only logical, because it’s always easier to share your fascination with something than negative feelings. Now the time has come to share some displeasure with you.

First of all, this is not a design that will get much response. It’s not even ugly. Ugly bags do get response, they are talked about, sometimes even more than the nice ones are. This bag can be happy if anyone keeps their eyes on it for more but a moment, I mean, it has nothing to it that’s even remotely attractive, nothing you can remember it for - either good or bad. The thing that is bothering me even more is that I would never say it’s a D&G design if it wasn’t for the name tag. It’s too Chloe-esque… Am I crazy? Am I missing something? No, I am not crazy, it simply doesn’t look like a D&G…

Maybe I wouldn’t have been so disappointed if the shape and the details didn’t remind me of the well known Chloe Saskia and Bay bags. Take a closer look and tell me if I’m wrong. It does have something in common with D&G Miss Silky we’ve covered here, but nothing can make this bag work for me. It’s just not right…

D&G Dolce & Gabbana “Bianca Woven Patent Leather Tote”

Oh yessss…  The usually long lasting “imagine-me-and-you” process I go through every time I see a new bag lasted a mere second with this one. It’s almost like this woven patent beauty kicked me right to the verge of a delirium, I am such a sucker for vibrant red, it’s almost pathetic. I have a strange feeling that not many of you will agree with me about this one, or maybe you will? It’s just that I know how a lot of women find the combination of patent leather and red color to be a bit too much for their tastes. I understand the overwhelming effect and all, but for me, it’s a total turn on.

This bag just does it for me, I can see myself carrying it both during the SS and the AW season, which is surprising since patent leather usualy doesn’t work well for summer. The color, just like the tote shape, is perfectly fine for a summer bag, so the patent leather is the only thing that might be questionable, and with this one it was only questionable for a brief moment as far as I was concerned. The combination of weaved leather, beautiful color and the carefree vibe this bag sends out simply manages to push all the right buttons for me.

Bianca Woven Patent Leather Tote is a top handle bag which, like the majority of recent top handles, comes with a removable blue shoulder strap which does a good job creating a nice contrast to the bag body. A little card pocket on the front is the only D&G branded detail and an excelent monotony breaker. The interior is featured with one zip pocket and closed by a magnetic snap closure.

The bag is available for pre-order on Nordstrom.com and due to the limited quantities, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to reserve yours asap.

D&G Dolce & Gabbana “Rebecca Elefante Large Tote”

I told you I was going to write about D&G Rebecca Elefante Wristlet’s bigger sister and here it is. Tell me one thing this bag has that you dislike? From my point of view, this is a total hit. I mean, you have to see the bigger picture if you’re having second thoughts about it. This is a drawstring tote, made of sumptuous elephant printed calf leather with a long detachable shoulder strap, made to be carried carelessly and to help you achieve that effortlessly awesome look. Remember Dior Cannage Drawstring and how enthusiastic I was about it? Well I like this one even better. The combination of the metal studs and beautiful black leather, which fits the shape and purpose of this bag perfectly, is what does it for me on this bag. Whether you are going out for lunch or just shopping, this is the kind of bag you should have with you. I know I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it many times in the future, but this is the perfect bag for those kind of situations. Looking beautiful like this, it’ll rock pretty much every outfit you can think of, including the simplest combinations such as trousers and a T-shirt…

As I said, this bag is a combination of elephant printed calf leather and detailed and polished silver metal studds which you can find on the earlier mentioned drawstring, weaved through the grommets on the top and on the top handles. They also have their purpose in structuring and defining the shape of the bag. 28″ long shoulder strap is attached with clasp attachments and is great not only as a hanging detail, but this time also as a shoulder strap. There’s a zipped pocket on the front which you probably won’t use much but it can come in handy. Open top reveals fine textile lined interior with one zip pocket.

Dolce & Gabbana “Miss Easy Way Ayers Snakeskin Patchwork Satchel”

Oh my, even though I’m an exotics fan, this one makes me want to feel very sorry for the poor snake. I’d rather have that snake alive in my closet or in my hand than carry this bag, that is how much I don’t like it. Ok, so they wanted to make an exotic, patching this many pieces in all these colors isn’t the way to go though. If it was made for exotic-lovers like myself, there are many more alluring and more beautiful exotic handbags out there which all beat this one by miles. I simply don’t like, nor would I recomend it, and the price is defintely not justified regardless of the expensive snakeskin.

The shape is ok, nothing special, but it’s not a miss. As for the removable shoulder strap, just like on the other Miss Easy Way Satchels, it is absolutely unnecesary - no real function aside from being a visual detail. But I’ll tell you something, that removable shoulder strap is the only thing about this bag that I like. If you have this much money laying around somewhere, and you don’t know what to do with it, you can buy this bag, hide it somewhere and just use the shoulder strap. Try detailing something with it Ok that was evil. No, really, this isn’t a bag you really want to have in your collection. Even if you like it, which I totally understand because bags have their way of making us women totally irrational, I would think twice…

The bag is detailed with exterior front zip pocket and a traditional hanging logo engraved metal plate. Interior is suede trimmed, featured with zip and cell phone pockets and closed with top zip closure.

I love this one just as much I love it’s bigger sister, I’m a total sucker for this kind of accessories. I’d love to have this one in my bag for those unexpected situations we all find ourselves in from time to time. You are out having dinner with your friends, carrying a big shoulder hobo as a companion… The evening is going well, everyone is worked up and someone suggests clubbing for the rest of the night - instead of worrying about dragging your big bag in a crowd all night, you just reach into the bag and grab something like this and you are ready to go… See how easy it all gets once you have something like this at your disposal? Or those situations when you’re not in a mood for carrying a bag at all, since you are only going for a cup of coffee and a short chat with your best friend and all you need is your keys, Blackberry and some money… Wristlets can be real life savers

Dolce & Gabbana “Miss Elise Straw Tote”

Look what I found when I was searching for new summer bags. I’d love to have this one as a beach bag and I bet I’d use it as often as possible, but something inside me is holding me back from giving this amount of money for a beach bag beacuse, lets be honest, it isn’t as usefull for any other occasion. But money aside, this is a great bag. It’s practical, lasting and spacious, made of a quality material making this bag even better for accessorizing your daytime summer outfits. I’ve always loved big, basket-like totes, and having a few of those in a collection is a deffinite must. They are great carry-alls and perfect for making girls in a local cocktail bar green from envy. I bet after about a half an hour, at least half of them will be drinking up their fifth caipirinha or whatever trying to comfort themselves.

It is a straw bag with handles made of leather and silver metal hardware which gives it a timeless touch. Just don’t drag it around and as if it were a $5 bag. The interior is leather trimmed and featured with a tip and a cell pocket. The bag itself is detailed with a hanging logo-engraved luggage tag.

You might as well hurry up if you like it so much you want to buy it because the quantities are limited.

Dolce & Gabbana Miss Romantique Knitting Bag

If you check out eLuxury you’ll see this bag in a black version. Black is a great color, but it isn’t always the best choice for a bag. Actually, sometimes it’s the worst possible decision a designer can make when choosing the color for a bag. The thing is, no matter how much we all love black, it can smother almost every detail, and details are always important when it comes to bags, regardless of their quantity, size or anything.

Looking at this bag in it’s black version, something simply doesn’t click. The shape is smothered and a lot of potential appeal is lost because of the color. I loved the bag at the first glance, but the fact that it’s black, and the white stitching as a contrast to it, make it a bit to heavy for me, if you know what I mean. It’s just too big and too structured to be black with white contrast stitching.
But… Scrolling down, you’ll see the same bag in brown and that’s it… Look no further…

Doesn’t it look better? Much better if you ask me! Easy on the eye and nicer, even friendlier. I must admit I was a bit frigtened by the “serious” look of the black one. No wonder we are given the choice, so depending on which kind of impression you want to leave on people around you, you’ll go for black or the brown one. It’s not like the brown is much different, after all, it’s the same bag, but much more attractive and wearable. If nothing else you’ll leave a better impression with this one.

The smooth grained leather with a subtle sheen, polished silver metal hardware, rolled handles, buckled leather bands encircling the bag and a partialy framed top with magnetic closure are the details you’ll notice first. On the inside you’ll find traditional animal print textile lining and multiple pockets giving this bag a practical side.
