Dior “Soft Lady Dior Avenue Woven Hobo”

Umm… So… This bag is a part of a new S/S seasonal Dior collection called Avenue. There are a few pieces available as a part of this collection, and this is one of them. I’ve heard people comment on this collection, saying that it didn’t end up among the hotter Dior collections because the bags resemble Bottega’s designs and because the designs are not “fresh”. Personaly, I like the whole collection despite the fact that there is something Bottega about them. The bags presented in the ad campaign were what really got me going and then I’ve seen the woven hobos which I loved even more. Thanks to the renowned designer house behind these bags, you don’t have to worry about these being a case of copy-paste design. The design does remind me of BV but still… I don’t think I would ever mistake one of these for one of their designs… If you look closer, the top of the bag and the handle have nothing that would make you think it’s a BV. Anyway, enough blabbing, let’s get back to the bag that made me write this post in the first place…
It’s made of smooth weaved lambskin which gives the bag that soft and slouchy look we can never get enough of - in the end, we are all just girls and girls need soft and slouchy bags
I think it looks perfect for the upcoming summer and that it’ll last for many summer seasons to come. On the other hand, if you’re into this kind of bags, I guess you’ll probably be more open to spending a bit more money and going for a Bottega. Anyway…
Rolled handle of a 10.5″ drop is attached to the bags body with polished gold clasp attachments, which are also used to carry dangling Dior logo detail. Zip top closure reveales suede lining interior featured with zipped and a patch pocket. Yummy.

Dior “Jazzclub Clutch”

I have already stated my opinion on the Jazzclub collection when I was writing the original Jazzclub post. The thing that made me not like it that much was the chain shoulder strap. There are some good news about the Jazzclub clutch though - the chain is smaller for starters *chuckle* and - it can be removed! Buh bye chain strap, you won’t be missed! I really do not like the strap and seeing a picture of this clutch without it made me really happy. I am definitely not head over heels with this one, but seeing it with the chain gone makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
The shape is very alluring, and while I really like it, it’s been done before. It seems as if the designers over at Dior decided to take the maximum out of this shape, or are simply running out of clutch ideas, I cannot really tell.
The Jazzclub clutch is made of aged lambskin combined with the polished silver metal hardware. It has a flat flap and pintucked gathers on the bottom. Other features include suede lining, an interior zip pocket and a flap top with a magnetic closure. It is far from a fug, but it is nothing spectacular either. There are so many fabulous clutches out there (especially oversized ones) that something as average looking as this one simply doesn’t stand a chance, especially with this price tag. I am sure there are many of you who are head over heels with this one though, and I’m not trying to say you shouldn’t be. If we all liked the same bags, where would the fun be?

Dior “Dior Lovely Pochette”

I am not impressed.. While I do like the shape, the interesting handle (eventhough I think it could have been made more proportional to the size of the pochette, but I could overlook that) and the simple and elegant design, the logo jacquard kind of gets in the way. I could even overlook the dangling Dior letters, but all the little details that I didn’t like made this one a no go for me. I have to admit that it did catch my attention, but after I have noticed the logo jacquard the appeal was gone. If this pochette was made of plain soft leather, I think I would really like it. I’m not sure, since that dangling D logo is poking my eyes and occupying all my attention at the moment.
If you like this line you, I guess you will find the Lovely pochette adorable. I just don’t, which is not to say there’s something terribly wrong with it, It’s just not my cup of tea. The whole bag is loaded with logos. You will notice the dangling Dior letters on the black version first, then you will notice the Dior logo all over tha bag, and after that, as a cherry on top, there is the Dior logo again on the metal plate the Dior letters are dangling on. See how many times I used the word Dior in my previous sentence? Well, that is the problem you will have with this bag, it simply screams Dior so hard you might doubt it being a Dior in the end, if you get my piont…
Well, I really do not know what else to say about this bag… Maybe that you can choose between three colors? Or maybe not.. At least the price is not sky high.. But then again, it is not a leather bag.. Anyway, I’m sure there are many of you who will disagree with me on this one. Feel free to leave a comment in either case!

Dior “Soft Lady Dior Medium Shopping Bag”

Ummmmmm.. This shopper left a similar impression on me as the Prada Cipria Gauffre Tote - it is cute and classy, simply to die for! This one has a more feminine touch to it, I really do not know why it left that impression, since it is a shopper, but the color and the gold toned hardware (you won’t hear me saying this a lot) look absolutely amazing. Maybe it’s just the fact that this one is new to me, I can’t tell. Nevertheless, both this one and the Prada tote are simply stunning!
It looks as if I touched it, the soft lambskin would melt under my fingers - and I believe it would. The top is open, a big no no for me usually, but since the bag is featured with a magnetic closure, the handle drop is not too long and the bag is pretty tall, I do not think I would have a problem with it. Or am I maybe just being irrational because I am so in love with this one? I can’t really tell. Whatever the reason, the open top issue is not an issue in this case.
The suede lined interior is featured with zip, patch and cell pockets, which is very welcome since you can never have too many of those. The bottom of the bag is flat and features protective feet, which gives this shopper a classier and therefore more feminine vibe. Also, if we leave out the aestetics for a second, you might notice that the protective feet have an important function - keeping your beige shopper clean (as much as they can), but I would never even think of put this beauty on the dirty floor next to my shoes… NEVER!
You must appreciate and respect bags like these, in fact, any bag you own!
Anyway, this one I would really carry anywhere. I know I am getting boring with this line, but there have been so many beautiful bags released lately that I would have serious inner conflicts every time I would be leaving the house if I owned more than one of them.

Dior “Le Plisse Large Zipped Frame Bag”
I’m in a kind of a grouchy mood so my reaction on this bag might be influenced by that a bit, but I know you will agree with me when I say this bag is just horrible. I mean, this bag had so much potential and they still messed it up with the mash of all those unneccessary details. Unlike the Plisse Wristlet, which is totally adoring, this one is just fug.
It’s the perfect example of how carefull you’ve got to be when you are designing a big bag. You just cannot make bag of this size in a bright red color, add thin gathered pleats and stitched details and expect it to look good. I’m was discussing this bag with Zoe a moment ago and the only feature she liked was the aged gold metal hardware, and the only thing I like is the color. Everything else about it we simply couldn’t swallow.. Mixing such a strong vivid color with the other stuff featured on this bag is… well… a bagicide(?). If it was smaller it could work, but in this size, no way.
As predictable as I am, I won’t skip saying that the leather is gorgeous and definitely high quality, which also goes for craftsmanship. It’s astonishing when you come to think how much time it takes to make a bag look like this. That’s a definite plus for it if nothing else…
Oh yes, I amlost forgot… I do like the handles as well. As for the interior… Nothing special, logo jacquard featured with a zipped, patch and a cell pocket and closed by a zipper closure implemented on a frame top, revealing the duality of this bag. The framed top and oriental pleats and stitching simply aren’t compatible in any way, which I guess is the reason this one will never work for me.

Dior “Soft Lady Dior Large Hobo”

I’m a fan of the Lady Dior Collection and it’s soft and comfy look so there’s no way I’ll ever let something like this pass unnoticed. I really like the rounded bottom this bag features, but… It all started with the A/W 2007 new arrivals and which were really fab. We loved Gipsy Hobo, Gipsy Fold Over Clutch, Cannage and Soft Dior Babe… And we still do… But isn’t this rounded bottom thing starting to appear on almost every Dior bag? It all started with Plisse Wristlet which was released for A/W 2007. Now we have S/S 2008 arrivals which are more or less, very much like the bag above. Don’t get me wrong, I like all of those bags we posted about here, as they are feminine and playful, but come on… Give us something different for a change. I wouldn’t like getting fed up with it and consequently getting nausea every time I see something similar, which might just happen if I don’t see something new soon and I would really hate that.
When it comes to the Lady Dior Collection, there’s nothing overwhelming about it and that’s maybe why I can never get enough of it. My favourite feature is the soft lambskin with signature cannage pattern embroidery, which crafted into a shape such as a hobo makes a TDF bag… As for the other bags from that collection, I don’t like top handled ones which are a bit too structured for this kind of material.
Soft Lady Dior Large Hobo is a perfect shoulder bag, detailed with polished silver metal hardware used on link chain strap and dangling logo charms. Interior is suede lined with zipped and cell pocket and closed with magnetic closure. Yummy!

Dior “Soft Dior Babe Small Shopping Bag”

I was drawn to this new Dior release primarily because I loved the color. Out of all the shades of purple we have been seeing on bags recently, this one takes the cake. Eventhough the bag is in a somewhat darker shade of purple, it still looks very soft, tempting you to squeeze it and not let go of it, at least that is the effect it has on me.
So, after it had all my attention I noticed the clutch that comes with the bag and at that moment I was sold. The Babe Small Shopping Bag is adorable as well, it really is, but my heart belongs to the clutch. Unfortunately, the clutch is not available as a stand alone item, but if you choose to purchase the bag, you are practically buying two bags, which is also tempting.
What I also like is the fact that the Dior logo is not noticable, on the shopping bag you practiacally cannot notice it since it is engraved in the silver handles, and on the clutch it is embroided on the front but does not stand out in a tacky way. I have already stated my opinion on the logo issue, how I do not like it in general. I am a bit flexible on this rule, depending on how much I like the bag in question, but I prefer my bags to be logo free.
The circular silvertone handles with leather trim are a very intriguing detail, especially since the silvertone hardware and the purple shade create a very clean look togehter. The pintucked leather is the detail which brings this bag to life, and it also gives it volume. The interior is fine textile lined, the base is circular and flat with protective metal studs, and the top is open. The open top issue is something I do not like, since I like my bags to have some kind of closure, flap, zip, whatever that secures everything I carry with me. If they don’t, I can’t feel as relaxed as I would otherwise. But I decided to let this one pass because of the shape of the top, it seems as if the interior is not too accessible.
The clutch that comes with the bag is multifunctional. You can carry it attached to the inside of the bag either as large cosmetic case or sticking outside of the bag, or you can carry it separately, as a clutch. I would personaly use it for “clutch purposes” only, since it looks simply adorable. The design resmebles the Dior Gispy Fold over Cltuch in terms of pintucked leather on the bottom and the transition from the bottom to the top. We loved the Gipsy one and we sure love this one!

Dior “Jazzclub Bag”

One of the novelties from Dior this spring is the Jazzclub collection. I am not sure what to think about it, I have just went through the collection and I was not really impressed at first sight. I really do not like the Jazzclub pouch and I definitely do not like the leopard printed pieces. I did however like the Jazzclub white wallet at first glance. The Jazzclub bag is still giving me a hard time figuring out whether I like it or not.
There is something about the chain shoulder strap that does not quite fit into the picture. If the strap was made of leather it would have had a much better chance of getting me to like it more. But, the designers decided to go for the chain, and there is nothing I can do about that. I like the shape of the bag, I like the size of the bag, I like the aged leather, I even like the huge silver metal circle on the flap, eventhough it might be a bit of a hassle to open the bag, but I simply do not like the chain. It makes the bag look a bit cheap in some way and the fact that it is interlaced with leather is not helping improve the whole impression the chain left on me.
The Jazzclub Bag is is presented at the moment on the Dior official site in black and white aged leather versions and in zebra and leopard print pony leather. I really, but really, do not like the leopard version. It just does not look class - period. The white aged leather is also not my favourite, I think it would look much nicer if it were in cream, or something more softer, since the in white version it looks a little raw to me. The black leather is a different story, everything looks great, except for the chain issue that is. The zebra printed version does stand out but I am not so sure about it. I have to emphasize my concern about how the pony finished leather looks irl, since it does not look too classy in the pics, and in that case I would not like the zebra print as well.

Dior “Gaucho Medium Flap Bag”

Honestly, I liked Gaucho when I first saw it. It was a fresh idea and it looked really special with the disproportional flap. This version of Gaucho is very interesting, but I somehow have a feeling I have seen too much of Gaucho, at least in it’s original shape, without any changes made. It just didn’t strike me as a classic, the bag you buy and will be able to carry it for another 10 years to come. And I didn’t expect Dior to insist on the exact same shape, with no alterations whatsoever for this long. I do not know, it’s just how I feel. It just doesn’t cause that rush in me when I see it.
This spring Dior decided, as many other designers did, to liven Gaucho up a notch. I personally do not think I would buy and carry this bag, but it certainly caught my attention. At first I was not sure if I really liked it, it really is on the sole border of being overdone. But, after taking a closer look, I decided I liked it, and at first it was because of the red and white contrast. I just like that combination and I like how they put very little of the red pieces and still managed to produce the right effect. The yellow pieces seem more neutral, but still, they give life to the bag. I also like how the ivory leather goes along with the hardware, the bag looks brand new but the hardware gives it a bit of a vintage look. And I also like how comfy and soft it looks.
Having said this, I have to note that it is just a bit too pricey imho. It is not something new, something you will see and go crazy about it from the moment you saw it. I know that many of ladies out there will love it and buy it, but I will be passing on this one.

Dior “Gipsy Fold Over Clutch”

This one is a new Dior’s arrival at eLuxury and as soon as something great hits the stores it’s just a matter of time untill it gets posted about here, since you know how much attention we pay to keeping you up to date with anything we think you might find interesting. And believe me when I say this is interesting. If it didn’t hit the right spot at first you might want to give it another shot since it’s not the kind of bag you will fall in love with at first glance.
First of all, it is folded which is something we’re not yet used to. We’ve seen it on Marc Jacobs Lovely Clutch, also we have something similar on Fendi To You Bag but still, it isn’t something you’ll see wherever you look. In addition to it being folded, it is a bag comming form the Gipsy line, meaning it is pleated at the bottom due to it’s pintucked leather which makes the bag a “double-detailed” one. That can be a set back to some of you due to the overwhelming impression it might leave. Thanks to the size of this clutch it can take both of the detailes and I think it is safe from being tagged as a fug. On the contrary, it is a fun, noticable and memorable clutch. It probably isn’t a bag which will last and last, but you’ll sure be pleased to have it in your possesion since it’s pretty much wearable, especially during the spring time because I see it as a perfect way to acessorize trousers and pumps which are ideal way to go for early spring time.
Just like on the Gipsy Hobo, the leather on this one is also gently washed leaving the impression of a bit worn out bag and the pintucked leather on the bottom is also copy-pasted but we’ve already said we like it so that’s a plus. The top is zip closed with a dangling charms on a leather zipper and it folds over the front of the bag. The interior is fine textile lined and includes an interior patch pocket.
