Celine “Patent leather clutch”

Ok, I like the turqoise color, but that’s about it when it comes to the things I like about this clutch. The combination of the design and the size we have here wouldn’t get into my wanted list in a milion years. If they made it smaller it might have worked, but this is just too overwhelming for me… There is definitely too much going on with this bag and I don’t like it. One thing is certain though - you will be noticed everywhere you go with it, so if that’s what you are after this might just be the bag for the mission.

Ok, let me start with the colors. Two very strong colors - the turquoise colored patent leather and tan leather trims - both of these are pretty powerful on their own, and when they are combined like this, they create quite a bit of chaos. I wouldn’t have a problem with this if the designers stopped there, but adding a shoulder chain into this mix transforms this clutch into a chaotic something, and that something is not a purse, I really don’t know what it is. I find the tan leather and the shiny metal chain to be a terrible match to the patent turquoise leather.. As a cherry on the top, the interior is featured with a satin lining.

I don’t know, I really can’t say much more about this clutch.. It is clear the designers wanted to make an IT bag but got lost somewhere along the way. Too much of what’s currently hot - patent leather, vivid colors, oversized dimensions and a MJ style dangling link chain (alhough a lot thiner) makes this bag nothing but a wannabe bag. All mixed up like that with no beginning and no end and no story behind it - it’s really starting to hurt my eyes.

In all that chaos the bag got lost imho, and that’s it.

Celine “Calf Leather Sulky Tote”

Red Alert! Red Alert! I actually stumbled upon a Celine bag that I liked! I’ll be honest, even though I may come under fire because of that, and tell you that I don’t like how Celine designers think a bag should look like, I don’t like their vision at all. I didn’t even want to waste my time posting about their bags, except for the Lirine Shiny Patent Tote which I found especially ungainly and simply had to get it out of my system. I find all bags coming from Celine to have that same problem, in addition of being deprived of any femininity, making them sad little bags that deserve to shine but never actually do.

This one, however, is a perfect day-time tote made to last and last. From the color and shape to the size and the meticulous craftsmanship, which undeniably does adorn every Celine bag regardless of how I feel about it, everything is just right. It has that it factor. The removable dangling metal pendant is giving it a playful note, making it a bit more catchy. The simple tote shape is freshened up with gusseted sides, which also make the bag look kind of layered. Open top with magnetic snap closure reveals the logo jacquard lined interior, featured with three open compartments, zipped, patch and cell pockets.

Go Celine! Make more stuff like this and I just might end up on the other side of the fence.

Celine “Lirine Shiny Patent Tote”

Help… What’s this? Is it a shoulder bag? Is it a top handle bag? What’s the deal with this huge shoulder strap? I can’t figure this bag out. It’s making me feel disorinetated. I don’t even know what to think of it.

I can’t say I hate it - there’s not a bag I can hate. As an extremely bagddicted woman I can say that I don’t love this one. That’s it! This is one of those bags which are completely non-charming, and as I said before - a bag without charm isn’t really a bag. Bags need to be charming, they are supposed to be a part of our extended personality, they even define us in a way… And please tell me, what kind of person could be defined by this bag?

I am not talking about anyone now, and of course you may disagree, but imho this one is boring to death. Not even the otherwise great red shade on it’s patent leather can make it look catchy nor charming, and let’s face it, a great color or a great material, especially these two detailes combined, can pull off a lot, but not this time and not this one.

And the handles? The size of the handles, especially if the bag is optioned to be carried as a top handle bag, should be proportional to the size of the bag and that isn’t the case here. And is just me, or do they look clumsy?

I see the point with this bag, I see the idea too, but somewhere along the way someone must have lost the will to finish this bag properly.

At least the bag is practical with it’s multiple interior pockets and lined interior closed with zip-top closure. It is also featured with adjustable and removable shoulder strap, decorated with front logo plaque and polished gold hardware and finished with trimmed patent leather.
