Marc by Marc Jacobs “Posh Turnlock Convertible Tote”

I came across this bag while I was searching for something perky, and even though this one doesn’t quite fit that criterion, I found it worth spending some time to post about it. Marc Jacobs is totally unpredictable, I mean, there’s no way you’ll ever be able to tell what he will come up with next. He has released so many products in various styles recently, but that’s still nothing in comparison to what’s yet to come from him, mark my words.
What I’m trying to say is that this is pretty much a very simple looking bag, too simple for something coming from the Marc Jacobs collection. Very simple would usually translate into Tina liking the bag very much, but this time Tina does not like it at all unfortunately. I’d rather go for a Quilted Colorblock Pochette, which I, by the way, dislike for many, many reasons. This one is so plain, I’d almost go so far as to label it a fug. It looks as if someone polished the life out of it trying to make the leather look decent and then half the way through the process they realized it leads nowhere and left it looking greasy. It’s a definite no-no, but that doesn’t neccesarily mean I don’t see anything good about it. I do like and the vintage feel that the gold twist lock closure and the way the flap top is implemented create. The point is, there is so much perfectly delicious arm candy created by Marc Jacobs out there that this one simply doesn’t stand a chance in my book. I would never try to convince you not to like it if you find it attractive, but I’d also never encourage you to buy it - if you like it, you like it, I just don’t.

Louis Vuitton “Damier Azur Hampstead MM”

I was just talking with Tina about the LV Hampstead’s new appearance and this was one of the rare occassions we actually dissagreed. I simply love the Damier Azur Hampstead and it just didn’t do it for her, she found the original Damier version more alluring and perfect for this shape. I, on the other hand, think that the Damier Azur gave Hampstead a more playful and relaxed look, as opposed to the more serious Damier Hampstead.
I have already mentioned how I love it when designers play with their already established hits. In the post about MJ’s Little Patchwork Stam it was all about the size, and LV decided to give Hampstead a refreshed look for this spring by changing the color scheme. As far as I’m concerned, it worked perfectly.
When I first saw the Hampstead MM, I have to say I fell in love with that timeless piece. But as the time passed, my yearning for it kind of diminished. It’s not that I didn’t find it as beautiful as I did before, but it somehow it just faded off my radar slowly. However, now that I’ve seen it in the Damier Azur version, I’ve fallen in love with it all over again and I want it, I want it more than I wanted the original version.
I do have to admit that in comparison to the timeless Damier Hampstead, this one is doesn’t have as much potential for it’s appeal to last. Having said all that, I still think I would pick the Damier Azur Hampstead over the Damier one, or would I?
This is a tough choice.. Go for the classic which will never fade, or the revamped, vivaciuos version that might or might not lose it’s appeal some day? I really don’t know.. I wouldn’t complain about having both

Fendi “Spy Bag” New Looks

I have never written a single post about a Fendi bag since we started blogging here at Bagddicted. There are a few reasons for this, main one being that I really didn’t like any of their bags. I did like the Spy bag when I first saw it, but I never managed to find it in a simple, smooth leather version (at least not online), and while I was waiting for such a version to appear somewhere, I got bored with it and no longer have any desire to own one. I still think it is a great bag, but I simply don’t have that irresistable urge to get one, eventhough I have seen the soft grained leather version available at eLuxury. You must be asking yourself why am I posting about it if I got bored by it? The answer is these crazy creations, Fendi’s response to the recent ethnic craze!
At first, I thought they were funny looking. Yes, funny, not in a bad way, but funny, as opposed to other versions that always had something that just didn’t fit into the picture in my book. I would never consider buying any of these (both because of the steep prices and because they simply don’t fit my style), but they are so extraordinary that I think they could work just fine if you know what to match them with. I am referring to the Island and the Beaded version, not the paillettes one, which I do not find alluring at all. I decided to inculde it in this post soley because it has a distinct ethnic touch to it.
The way I see it, Fendi has a problem with exaggerating every unneccessary detail, and this is a prefect example to back up my opinion. So far I have never liked any of their overdetailed bags, but this is something that caught my attention, and for a Fendi bag to do that - not something that happens often
The price tags on these bags are quite high, and that could mean not too many sales, since the Spies have been out there for quite a while now, but I am inclined to think that the combination of the unique looks and the high price tags will set the must have triggers off in this specific situation and end up making these bags very sought after. We’ll just have to wait and see.

MICHAEL Michael Kors “Joplin Large Hobo White”
Yes, yes… This is it! A hobo shaped shoulder bag in white color and reasonably priced! I am telling you, this is it. You can’t imagine the state I was in after seeing the YSL Small Satchel in white. I was again on a verge of a breakdown, having realized that I haven’t bought a single white bag in what seems to be ages. I am totally obssesed with bags and I don’t have a single white bag, tell me is this normal? I mean, I do have a couple, but those are very old and they just don’t feel or look right anymore. I’m not going to carry them around when there are bags as gorgeous as this one, just waiting for me to buy them - no way… While I was writing the YSL Satchel post, I thought to myself how spending $1000 isn’t all that much for a designer bag, and even though I rarely buy white bags, I was ready to snap that beauty up the next time I go shopping because I found it to be simply too good to miss. However, having seen this baby and it’s more than agreeable price, the YSL Satchel officially lost it’s place on my list to this bagalicious piece of arm candy.
Practical and simple, this bag looks simly divine in this color. If it was in any other color, it would have to be detailed in some way because not many colors are able to make a simple, unneccessary detail ridden bag look beautiful as white is. The Jolin Large Hobo is available in a black version as well so you can see the difference the color makes easily. The shape reminded me of the white Louis Vuitton Onatah at first sight, both being hobos with brown handles, but the lack of a signature perforation is what distinguishes this one.
Made of a pebbled grained leather, it won’t give you headaches trying to keep it clean as long as you are carefull. The shoulder strap is made of leather with logo engraved gold metal hinge attachments on each side. Interior is woven canvas with various pockets and a leather strap with key clasp… What’s else is there say about it? Nice, practical, functional and definitely beautiful!

Fendi “Paint Your Own Baguette Tote”

This is not funny. And it’s not “whoaaaa, how cool” either! I don’t want to paint my own bag. I also have no desire or need to write my to-do lists, phone numbers or poetry on it, I’ve got my agenda for that. If I wanted to paint, I’d get a piece of canvas, an easel, a beret and some paint and brushes and let all that creative energy flow. That is IF I wanted to. It’s just that I don’t want to! I am more than content with expressing my style and creativity through carefully selected outfits and accessories.
Please tell me I am not the only one who is not a tad bit exctied about this bag. I mean, why? Design a gorgeous bag, manufacture it, put it on the shelves - end of story. We’ll come, take a look, fall in love with it and there you go - everyone is happy. There’s no need for stuff like this. I’ll go out and buy it and do what? Doodle on it? Please… It would be a good present for a kid though!
And no, I’m not going to write anything else about it…

Chloe “Heloise Small Shoulder Bag”

This one does though. I like the fact the leather is quilted patent and I really dig the orange color. I actually think it’s totally smashing. I remember thinking “Oh, another overdone Chloe” the first time I saw it, but I ended up really liking it in the end. It’s not big and looks very chic and I think it is worth having in your collection, especially if you don’t have any other Chloe handbags. It has a removable shoulder strap so you can carry it as an oversized clutch or as a shoulder bag. Interior is cotton lined featured with zip and patched pockets. It is currently on sale, so you might want to take advantage of that…

Alexis Hudson “Mini Monaco Shoulder Bags”

I am so in love with this bag! It looks both cute and hot at the same, just adorable! Did I mention that I love it? I did? Oops, sorry! Ok, I’ll stop now, it’s not funny anymore… As you can probably tell, I am in a good mood today and I wanted to tell you how much I love this beautiful bag. What I liked from the moment I saw it was it’s size, it’s neither too big nor too small - just perfect for any time of the day, it will shine in its gorgeousness during the day as well as on a night out. It is the kind of bag that you carry all of the time, since it is not too intense looking, yet it’s not something you will pass by and not notice. I like bags that are designed like this, not just because they are highly practical, but because I like having a bag which I can for 15 days in a row and not feel weird about it.
Mini Monaco comes in black, vanilla, brown sugar and dream blue smooth leather versions and in tan and paprika snake leather versions. I like them all! Carry it on your shoulder or on the crook of your elbow, it will look fabulous in either case. I also wanted to mention the bigger, original version of the Monaco. It is the same beautyful bag, just bigger.
It is definitely more practical for ladies with tight daily schedules that require having lots of neccesities with you at all times, but I just love the mini version. The size is the thing that made it just perfect!
Unfortunately, Mini Monaco is currently not available online, but if you have the hots for the bigger Monaco, you can get your hands on it on Bluefly.com. They have the pale banana, dream blue leather and dusty pink snakeskin versions available. I like the pale banana leather one, but there is always that fear that makes me stay away from light colored bags - they just get stained so easily. The brown sugar one looks very appealing and I think I would go for that one (with blue jeans and brown belt it would work simply divine).
There is one more thing I would like to mention, there is a zipper on the bottom of the bag, which allows you to expand or shrink your Monaco depending on how many things you are carrying with you.

The Fold Over Flap - a growing trend or a fad?
I have been noticing more and more bags of different shapes and sizes, coming from different designer houses (as I stated in my Nancy Gonzalez post) that are featured with a fold over flap. I think it will stick around for some time, but I still cannot really tell if it will grow into a huge trend or simply be forgotten in a couple of months… Anyway, I have picked out some of the bags I found to present this trend best and here they come. I will first cover the ones we have published here @ Bagddicted - Marc by Marc Jacobs Lovely Clutch, D&G Dolce & Gabbana Satin Evening Bag, Prada Cervo Folding Shopper, Dior Gipsy Fold Over Clutch and the Nancy Gonzales Large Croc Fold Over Clutch.
Now for the ones we haven’t covered (yet
). I have found Chloe’s Nancy shoulder bag and clutch, D&G Rebecca Elefante hobo, Fendi To You bag (which is more of a modification of the fold over flap, but still) and clutches in various versions, Marc Jacobs Myfair, Louis Vuitton Afterdark clutch (which I really love) and the Limelight clutch, and the Longchamp Pop North/South tote, to name a few. Here are some of the pics

I would also like to hear what you think about this trend - is it going to last, will it be a short lived trend or do you feel we will be seeing more and more of fold over flap bags. Do you like/love it, or maybe you hate it? Do tell, all thoughts are welcome!
All bags featured here are available @ Saks.com

Prada “Oversized Tote”

Well, this is the bag which perfectly reflects what I am trully all about. You know how I am always saying that a bag can tell pretty much everything about a woman’s personality, or at least about her current mood. Well, this is it. I feel my best when I’m carrying this kind of bag. I adore clutches, especially the oversized ones, but bags looking like this just set off certain triggers. Look at the shape and the slouchy/comfy look that radiates from this beauty and tell me is it possible to not want to grab it tightly and never let go? I don’t know how come I never came across it before. Even worse, how come I don’t have this one? I want it so bad I’ll go and buy it the minute I stop writing this post. It’s bussines before pleasure after all…
The soft deerskin is what is giving this tote the look I described, and it works much better for this kind of bags than the more often used lambskin as far as I noticed in my bagddicted history. It has almost no details if you leave out the gusseted front and the imprinted logo. We can say the key detail of this bag is that it hasn’t really got any - pure beauty out of pure simplicty. Oh, I love it, love it, love it so much I’ll start screaming!
Snap closures are placed on the top of the bag on both sides, and alow you to gather or loosen the tote depending on the look you’re trying to achieve. The snap closures also reveal the logo jacquard lined interior, which is featured with a zip pocket.
Buh-bye now before someone grabs it before I do…
