Prada SS08 “Striped Nappa Hobo”
I love the shape and I love seeing ideas like this being implemented into a bag design, but I am not sure about how wearable these bags actually are. The one that I liked the most is the blue version with a couple of orange stripes, probably because of the contrast the orange stripes create. The purple and blue shades versions do stand out as bags, but nothing on them stands out, not one detail is more noticable than the other, which is not the case with the orange stripes version. I really, really do not like the ones with gold and black stripes, they look a bit tacky to me. I am very strange and utterly unpredictable when it comes to gold. 
Sometimes I love it, but sometimes I hate it. In this case it is the second option I am afraid. As someone wrote in a forum post, it looks like a Big Bad Bumblebee *chuckle*…
As I am writing this post, I keep thinking about the version I mentioned as me fav. I am actually putting together clothing combinations in my mind, which would go with it. I have to admit the number of combinations is increasing. A white summer dress and a pair of flats or a pair of jeans and a white shirt would work wonderfully with this bag. Since these bags are as colorful as they come, you will have to keep your clothes really simple and in neutral colors, these bags just can’t coexist with any additional color anywhere on you. The models in the Prada campaign are all wearing colorful outfits, with patterns, but I think I would carry this bag the way I stated, can you really imagine going out looking like Sasha Pivovarova in that ad? I sure can’t.
These bags have two shoulder straps - one is thin and long and the other one is thick and has a rather small drop which allows you to carry it on your shoulder as well. You can also carry it as a clutch and it will still look great. And as a cherry on top, they are made of soft nappa leather. I just might look this bag up when it arrives to the stores.
