Louis Vuitton “Monogram Vernis Houston”
I’d like to continue in the tone Zoe started with LV Hampstead and use it as inspiration. I’ve been getting my Vernis impressions in order for some days now, and it’s time to share them with you. Zoe did great job paving the way for this one. It’s not like I’m offering this one instead of her Hampstead, no, no, no… These two bags can’t even be compared if you’re asking me. Hampstead fitts in the same category as LV Griet does and it’s the one of those classics you’ll be able pass on to your daughter to carry in 10 years… Vernis Houston, however, fits another category.
Monogram Vernis is a very feminine, gleaming line with a vivacious range of colors. Glossy look is given to the leather with special tanning techniques which also make the leather very resitant. There are some anecdotal reports of cases where Vernis accessories have been scratched or, for example, nail polish transfers, but you never know how careful those girls were with their bags, I’m inclined to believe LV when they say it’s resistant :).
The ones in darker colors are probably easier to maintain but still, you should avoid contact with anything that may transfer its color, like newspapers, textiles and other leather products; avoid long exsposure to sunlight because eventually it may lead to fading, and for those daily traces you might leave on the leather with your fingers, the best thing to clean it with is soft cotton cloth or a colourless leather cloth.
Monogram Vernis Houston is, in my humble, bagddicted opinion, the top of the Vernis line. It is a nicely shaped tote in a simple, yet very giving hazelnut shade. The color compliments the discretely embossed Monogram perfectly, making it noticable but far from ouch-whats-that-in-my-face? The interior is textile lined, featured with two pockets and closed with zip closure. With the traditional cowhide handles, textile lining and golden brass pieces, this bag is shares many characteristics with other Louis Vuitton products - it’s classy, it looks fabulous and it was predestined to become a part of my collection.
