It takes courage to carry a white bag around becuase they get stained so easily if you are not extra careful, easpecially when it’s an expensive bag or one of your favorites, it becomes impossible to shake off that fear that it will get stained and dirty.. White bags are, as far as I’m concerned, reserved for rare occasions, and they are deffinitely not meant to be carried all the time unless of course, you are super cautious when you carry them… I rarely go for white bags because of that, and even when I decide to go for one, I often end up buying it in some other color regardless of the fact that I liked the white one the most.

All that won’t stop me from posting about this beauty though. Seeing it really makes me want to take all I’ve said before back and just rush to whip out my credit card and buy it. Coming form the house of YSL, there’s not much to say about it because we all know what YSL stands for in terms of quality and attractiveness. The leather is top quality and the style is timeless, no matter how edgy some of their bags look at first sight. This one isn’t edgy at all, it is a true classic collectors piece worth having in your collection - pretty odd because white usually works best for smaller trendy bags - something this one most deffinitely isn’t.

Detailed only with gold toned hardware, this shoulder bag can be carried it as a top handle as well. Interior is satin lined and featured with zip and cell phone pockets. Five metal feet at base are placed to secure the bottom and to minimize the chances of the leather getting dirty.

Simple, beautiful!

Leiber “Ritz Fizz Pave Clutch”

This is wonderful. I have been bumping into really beautiful bags recently, many of which enchanted me from the first glance: there was the chic Diesel hobo in a delicous leather/shiny canvas combination, the uber feminine Prada Cipria Gauffre tote, the Trembled Blossoms bag, also from Prada and the Tod’s Goa pochette that Tina bumped into a few days ago. I have just written a post about Orla Kiely’s new spring arrival - the Flower Box Print shoulder bag, which I was also very delighted with, but all these bags I mentioned are casual, day time bags, and this one is the pure opposite. I kind of missed writing about serious looking, sophisticated type of bags and this is why I decided to go for this one today.

This is not the kind of clutch you will be taking with you when you are going out clubbing, if you do not take the price into account, you really do not want to ruin a clutch like this. It would be more appropriate for a dinner a nice restaurant with your friends, a high profile event of some kind or something along those lines. I think you will have plenty of opportunities to shine with this one (of course, it does depend on the kind of lifestyle you are pursuing), but it definitely isn’t something you will be able to carry for any kind of occasion.

This clutch is meticuolusly handcrafted, every crystal being hand glued to it, thus the comment about not wanting to risk it getting ruined when you are out partying. The flap is featured with a magnetic closure, so you can be sure this clutch will keep it’s shape once you have it in your hands. It is featured with a 22,5″ long silver toned shoulder strap, giving you the option to carry it on your shoulder if you want, which is quite useful since it makes it more appropriate for ocassions which don’t fall into the high-profile category. I like it when designers give you options like these - you might never actually carry it on your shoulder, but simply knowing that you can is nice. What originally drew my attention to it were the beautiful different sized crystal bits that cover Ritz Fizz Pave, giving this clutch a playful feel and making it less “serious” looking than the original Ritz Fizz one. I really liked it!

Burberry “Leather Overnight Bag - Bowling Tote”

This is genuine Burberry style. This bowling tote gets freshened up every now and then, and as far as I can remember it always ends up being a hit. It is because of the divinely simple shape which can hold be spiced up with almost any detail immaginable and still look awesome. The slightly gathered front which is featured on this bag always gives bags that beautiful feminine touch, so the only thing left to do is to find a new material, a new color or some interesting detailing, and you’ve practicaly got an instant IT bag that will survive much more than a single season. Speaking of material, this one it is made of leather trimmed to achieve a shiny, glossy look and subtly but noticably perforated which is something I really like in a bag. The pewter color is what I love the most about this bag, it makes it even more stunning, edgy and chic than it was before.

Until I saw this version, I always tought of Burberry Bowling Bag as an all time classic, but not the kind of bag that would cause a lot of buzz with every new version that comes out.Anyway, there’s not much to say about the exterior since I’ve already covered that, so I’ll go proceed to the interior. Nylon lined and featuring a zipped and a dual patch pocket, it fits the exterior perfectly. The bottom is secured with four metal feet, so when you rest it somewhere, the leather won’t stick to the surface as it usually happens with this kind of trimmed leather.

And the thing you might appreciate… It is currently on sale so hurry up…

Louis Vuitton “Monogram Jokes”

I just saw that LV has introduced the Jokes bags online. I usually love LV, I’m a big, big, BIG fan of theirs, but this is something I hated. It is not because of the design nor the vivid colors, but the jokes that are written on them. Most of the women I know (this includes Tina and me) can take care of themselves just fine on their own, better than most men I know can, and yet we don’t feel compelled to make derrogatory comments / jokes about men. I do not consider it art, and no, I do not care about their importance to whomever, I just do not find them funny on any level. Sure, you can argue about the real message these bags were meant to convey, but the fact is - those jokes are completely tasteless.

The fact that these bags are currently sold out is proof that you just have to make something appear exclusive and “must have”, and the “trendy gals” will go nuts about it, no matter what you are selling. I really do not know what state of mind I would have to be in to carry a bag with such jokes on it. No, I am not “oh so self-aware and confident” that I will carry one of these and show off how I’m too strong to be bothered by jokes of that type. If they left out the jokes, I would probably be writing something along the lines of the bags being refreshing, edgy, definitely not something just anyone could pull off, whatever, but with this waste of perfectly good letters plastered all over them - No way. I love some of the extravagant SS08 bags, like Monogram Matisse bag, but this is simply wrong.

Provocative? Yes! Bound to get attention? Yes. Having any value whatsoever as BAGS? No chance..

LV we still love you, but we hope these were just a glitch in the Matrix.

Prada “Degrade Patent Clutch”

Patent has definitely made it’s way into the SS08 collections. I am still not sure whether I like that or not, but way to go patent!! As you can see, I am posting about a Prada bag yet again, and I am starting to feel silly since I haven’t written as many posts about Prada in the short life of Bagddicted as I have in the past 20 days. Anyway, let’s leave my Prada obsession aside and talk about the Degrade clutch.

I have to admit, I haven’t fallen in love with this one, reason being the patent leather which I still cannot make my mind over since this is a SS bag and patent works best for AW. I do like the gradient effect that makes these bright pink and tourquoise leather bags look really refreshing, especially the tourquoise one, reminiscent of hot summer days and the heavenly sensations of refreshment when you dive into the sea. Ahh, I can’t wait for summer (I really, really need to stop daydreaming ). The cream topstiching blends in great, giving the clutch a special touch.

Ok, back to patent leather. I would have to see this clutch irl to be able to tell if it’s a go, I’m hoping I won’t get dissapointed.

All in all, my verdict would be - a great clutch for this season, I do not think patent will stay as hot as it is now, so it might not hurt to keep that in mind. It does looks awesome, it is bigger than your usual clutch (another plus), but the patent and the way it might end up looking irl is making me have second thoughts.

Orla Kiely “Flower Box Print Shoulder Bag”

Oh, I was so happy to see some new bags on Orla Kiely’s site, and I was even more happy to see this beauty! It looks so sweet I could easily mistake it for a candy! Mmmm… See how much I like it? I liked pretty much every Orla Kiely bag I’ve seen, they all look chic and unique. I like some of them more than the others, but they are all special in their own way. I always liked having something noone else had, or at least being one of the first people to get it (I’m not talking just the “IT” stuff here, it applies to anything I like) - I enjoy being ahead It’s not like I will be rubbing that into people’s noses, it is just something that makes me happy ;).

Anyway, about this bag - Mmmmm…. I love it, I really do!! I feel overwhelmed. It is not a classy, serious type of bag, it is more on the fun and playful side and that is what i find so adoring about it. Simply looking at it makes me feel, hmmm, how should I put this… hahaha.. I don’t know, happy would not quite describe it.. Never mind, let’s say would give me a boost on a cloudy day.

It is laminated, which is the Orla Kiely signature, so cleaning it will not present a problem - just wipe it with a damp piece of cloth and it’s as beautiful as it ever was. You can choose between three color schemes - olive, grey and red. The red version is the least appealing to me, but it is quite difficult for me to say which one I’d go for. The olive one is the one that looks like tasty candy to me, on the other hand, the grey color scheme has the colors I’d usually go for.

The bag also has all the features we “demanding women” (*chuckle*) need - the interior mobile and zip pockets and a key chain, the magnetic closure and the leather reinforced handles. Uuuuuuuuh…. I love it, I just love it!! There is also a beach version of the bag available, which is somewhat bigger than this one, so if you find walking around with this one on your shoulder in the city a bit too much, you might like the idea of carrying it to the beach.

Dior “Le Plisse Large Zipped Frame Bag”

I’m in a kind of a grouchy mood so my reaction on this bag might be influenced by that a bit, but I know you will agree with me when I say this bag is just horrible. I mean, this bag had so much potential and they still messed it up with the mash of all those unneccessary details. Unlike the Plisse Wristlet, which is totally adoring, this one is just fug.

It’s the perfect example of how carefull you’ve got to be when you are designing a big bag. You just cannot make bag of this size in a bright red color, add thin gathered pleats and stitched details and expect it to look good. I’m was discussing this bag with Zoe a moment ago and the only feature she liked was the aged gold metal hardware, and the only thing I like is the color. Everything else about it we simply couldn’t swallow.. Mixing such a strong vivid color with the other stuff featured on this bag is… well… a bagicide(?). If it was smaller it could work, but in this size, no way.

As predictable as I am, I won’t skip saying that the leather is gorgeous and definitely high quality, which also goes for craftsmanship. It’s astonishing when you come to think how much time it takes to make a bag look like this. That’s a definite plus for it if nothing else…

Oh yes, I amlost forgot… I do like the handles as well. As for the interior… Nothing special, logo jacquard featured with a zipped, patch and a cell pocket and closed by a zipper closure implemented on a frame top, revealing the duality of this bag. The framed top and oriental pleats and stitching simply aren’t compatible in any way, which I guess is the reason this one will never work for me.

Botkier “Gladiator Snakeskin Embossed Tote”

Helloooo… I’d like you to meet my bag of the day. What do you think of it? Isn’t it just like, mmmm… tasty? Even though I’ve always felt indifferent about Botkier handbags, that is definitely not how I feel about this one. Usually they make nice bags, nothing special but definitely better looking than many other fashion houses, but they always seem to be a bit plain and thus lack real charm imho. This one however made me think twice because it works great for this time of year and has a timeless look which is a huge plus. It has something special about it, the snakeskin embossed sheepskin, which gets me to the key question: if a bag is an exotic, then it’s an exotic, and if it’s sheepskin like on this one then it’s not - why try to make it look like an exotic if it isn’t one? Well nevermind, this one looks great regardless. It doesn’t look a tad bit pretentious and that’s what I like the most about it.

I like how it looks like a common everyday bag from the sides, but once you look at the front side you get a totally opposite impression. It would work perfectly for an afternoon lunch with my girls, or when I’m shopping for smaller stuff like a gift for someone or something simillar. It’s looks awesome in this color and with that oversized buckled turn-lock closure. The dark brown leather on the handles and bottom corners of the bag prevent any potential monotony and serve as a nice accent on the bright colored body. It is available for pre-order in limited quantities so hurry up if you like it.

Marc Jacobs “Rana Pouch”

The Rana Pouch is a part of the new Marc Jacobs collection and from today on, you can preorder it @ Nordstrom. If you had your eyes on it, better hurry since there is a limited number of Rana pouches that will be available. I honestly do not know what to think about it. I like the pouch idea, but I do not like frogs (really, I don’t… How weird am I? … Just kidding). It’s not like frogs are my favorite animals or extra cute or whatever, I generally find them to be quite dull and potentially very annoying (croaking is only fun when there is a single frog doing it, trust me)… But I have to admit that it looks catchy… The other thing I do not like about the frog is its jeweled eyes… A bit too much for my taste.

But anyhow, a pouch which you carrelessy carry around on your wrist does sound appealing, and if you do not mind having a frog on it, this one is just perfect. I actually saw this one quite some time ago, and on the first glance I didn’t like it.. The gold toned frog on the front was just killing it for me. At this point I feel indifferent about it. I like the pouch per se, and without the frog on it, I would maybe even consider buying it.

Rana is made of kangaroo leather, has a single strap with a loop-through closure and a 3″ drop, the interior is lined in silk and has an interior zip pocket.

I will make this post strictly informative, since I have already written a post about the Warrior in which I expressed my feelings about it. I just wanted to let you know that it is available for online purchase at Nordstrom.com and to briefly cover the available versions. You can choose between the white, black and trench leather Warrior, and the large canvas Warriors which are available in the nova beige and nova trench. Both large canvas Warrior versions did not quite appeal to me, but I have to admit that the Warrior, in these plain colors, does not look as bad to me as it did when I was writing my original post about it. It still would not be my first choice, nor would it be on my wish list…
